Dowsa Performance Wear – Rental Terms & Agreement

By placing a booking with Dowsa Performance Wear, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to the following Rental Terms & Agreement.

1. Rental Overview

Dowsa Performance Wear offers premium Irish dance costumes for short-term rental, including both Essential Plain Dresses and Premium Embellished Dresses.

Each garment is professionally prepared, maintained and quality-checked before dispatch to ensure it arrives in excellent competition-ready condition.

2. Rental Period & Delivery

  • Standard rental period: 5 days from delivery
  • Costumes are typically delivered 1–2 days before your event
  • All items must be returned within 2 days after your final event

A return is considered complete when:

  • The item has been lodged with the postal service
  • The prepaid return label supplied by Dowsa Performance Wear has been used
  • Valid tracking has been obtained

Late returns will incur additional charges.

3. Rental Fees, VAT & Security Deposit

Rental fees vary depending on the selected costume and are clearly displayed at the time of booking.

  • Essential Plain Dresses – from €35 + VAT
  • Premium Embellished Dresses – from €75 + VAT
  • Rental period: 5 days
  • Security Deposit: €100 refundable fixed deposit
  • VAT: 23% applies to the rental fee and shipping only
  • Express Shipping (Ireland): €15
  • Prepaid return label included

The €100 Security Deposit is refundable once the costume has been returned on time, inspected and confirmed to be in accordance with this Agreement.

The Security Deposit may be partially or fully retained where late return, damage, loss, staining or breach of these Rental Terms & Agreement occurs.

4. Late Returns

Late return charges apply as follows:

  • €5 per day for the first two days
  • €10 per day thereafter

Late return charges will be deducted from the Security Deposit.

5. Cancellations

  • After booking confirmation but before dispatch: 10% of the Security Deposit will be retained to cover administration costs.
  • After dispatch: Rental fee and shipping charges are non-refundable.

The remaining Security Deposit will be refunded following the safe return and inspection of the costume.

6. Condition & Responsibility

You are fully responsible for the costume from the time it is delivered until it has been returned.

The costume must be:

  • Returned in the same condition in which it was received
  • Free from damage, staining or misuse

Normal wear resulting from careful use is accepted.

7. Embellishments & Normal Wear

Some costumes include delicate embellishments, including rhinestones and decorative elements.

  • Minor wear, such as the occasional loose stone, is considered normal.
  • Significant loss of embellishments, damage or tampering may result in additional charges.

8. Alterations (Strictly Prohibited)

Customers must not:

  • Cut
  • Sew
  • Glue
  • Dye
  • Alter or modify the garment in any way
  • Use tape, adhesives or bonding materials on the costume

Unauthorised alterations may result in repair charges or retention of part or all of the Security Deposit.

9. Cleaning Policy

Customers must not attempt to clean the costume.

This includes:

  • Machine washing
  • Hand washing
  • Dry cleaning
  • Tumble drying

All cleaning is carried out exclusively by Dowsa Performance Wear.

Customers are kindly asked to wear the disposable dress shields provided during use to help protect the garment.

10. Damage, Loss & Charges

Costumes must be returned in the same condition as received, allowing for normal wear from careful use.

Damage beyond normal wear includes, but is not limited to:

  • Tears, burns or permanent staining
  • Broken zips or structural damage
  • Significant loss of embellishments

Where damage occurs:

  • Repairable damage – the cost of repair will be deducted from the Security Deposit.
  • Irreparable damage – part or all of the Security Deposit may be retained.
  • Loss or non-return – the full Security Deposit will be retained.

Dowsa Performance Wear reserves the right to determine whether damage constitutes normal wear or chargeable damage.

11. Costume Condition & Inspection

Every costume is dispatched in impeccable condition.

Customers must inspect the costume upon arrival and report any issues or damage within 24 hours of delivery.

If no issues are reported within this period, the costume will be deemed accepted in its delivered condition.

12. Returns

Customers must:

  • Return the costume on or before the agreed return date
  • Use the prepaid return label supplied
  • Securely package the costume for return

Proof of postage and tracking should be retained until the Security Deposit has been refunded.

13. Rental Guidelines

To help protect the costume and avoid additional charges, please:

  • Avoid eating or drinking (other than water) while wearing the costume.
  • Do not smoke while wearing the costume.
  • Do not attach labels, pins or tape to the garment.
  • Do not attempt repairs or alterations.

14. Sizing & Fit

Customers are responsible for selecting the correct size before booking.

Please refer to the Dowsa Performance Wear Size Guide before placing your order.

If you are unsure which size is most suitable, please contact us before booking. We are happy to assist with sizing recommendations.

Refunds will not be issued where an incorrect size has been selected by the customer.

15. Delivery Disclaimer

Dowsa Performance Wear is not responsible for delivery delays caused by postal or courier services.

Customers are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate delivery details
  • Returning the costume within the agreed timeframe

16. Copyright

All Dowsa Performance Wear designs remain the intellectual property of Dowsa Performance Wear.

Copying, reproducing or commercially replicating any design is strictly prohibited.

17. Data Protection

Customer information is processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Irish Data Protection legislation.

18. Governing Law

These Rental Terms & Agreement are governed by the laws of Ireland.

19. Entire Agreement

These Rental Terms & Agreement constitute the entire agreement between Dowsa Performance Wear and the customer in relation to the rental of costumes and supersede any prior discussions or representations.

Dowsa Performance Wear reserves the right to amend these Rental Terms & Agreement at any time. The version published on the website at the time of booking shall apply to that rental.

20. Agreement

By completing your booking, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these Rental Terms & Agreement.
